I am a marine biologist specializing in the identification and ecology of small animals that live in marine sediments (macrofauna), and larger invertebrates and fishes that live on the seafloor or just above it (megafauna). I conduct habitat characterization studies in deep-sea benthic ecosystems using quantitative underwater video and by observing and collecting the amazing animals that live there.  My current work in MBARI's video lab entails identifiying deep-sea animals, evaluating behaviors, and documenting geological and habitat features in hundreds of hours of seafloor imagery each year. In addition I currently provide support to MBARI's summer intern program and the Monterey Bay Aquarium's education programs.
