Sebastián Rodríguez is a Research Engineer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. Previously, he was a research intern at MBARI while completing his master’s thesis at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His thesis focused on calibrating magnetometers and gyroscope biases for enhanced underwater navigation using low-cost sensors.

Sebastián works under the lead of Giancarlo Troni in the CoMPAS Lab, focusing on the development of improved tools and methodologies for quantitative ocean exploration, achieved through cost-effective and scalable autonomous machines with close collaboration across the institute to drive the expansion of marine robotics research effort at MBARI.
