Infrastructure support

 

Division of Marine Operations support

Project Manager: Chris Grech

This project allows the institute to estimate the resource allocation and track the usage of shared resources (engineering time, machine shop time, etc.) required to operate and upgrade its major marine assets: moorings, vessels, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).

AUV Infrastructure Support

This project coordinates AUV operations and data management, including mission planning, software development, science data processing, data archiving, dissemination, and preparation of results for publication.

Feasibility of High-definition Camera Replacement

Given the importance of high-quality underwater video and still imagery to MBARI's research and education objectives, a team consisting of science, engineering, and video professionals will investigate the current state-of-the-art in high-performance camera systems to determine whether it is feasible to upgrade our ROV camera systems.
