Benthic Rover

Project Manager: Alana Sherman
Lead Scientist: Ken Smith
Lead Engineer: Paul McGill

The 2009 goals for this project are to deploy Rover II on the MARS node for one 12-to-16 week period, transmit video, still images, respirometer, and other sensor and engineering data to shore, test different measurement protocols, and continue to develop software for autonomous deployment. The engineering team is documenting the system as they formulate a transition plan for Rover, which includes seeking external funding for a duplicate Rover for deployment on cabled observatories and autonomously in the Antarctic.
