Precision Control of ROVs and AUVs

Project Manager and Lead Engineer: Steve Rock

Professor Steve Rock from the Robotics Lab at Stanford University and his students continue to develop software tools to enable cost-effective repeat surveys of terrain-mapped areas, such as marine protected areas. Goals for 2009 are to generate automated video mosaics in areas of non-planar seafloor, augment the capabilities of AUVs so that they can navigate themselves using the bathymetry, and improve obstacle avoidance.
