Feasibility of a Digital Video Archive

This project will begin tracking industry trends for digital storage of high volumes of video data. Tape-based systems will eventually be phased out. Having MBARI video resources in a digital format will improve access and usability and aid in managing the video archives and processing of requests. Results from this analysis will allow the institute to plan ahead as technologies become affordable and scalable to MBARI’s data issues.
