Benthic research
Ocean Chemistry of the Greenhouse Gases
Project Manager: Edward Peltzer
Lead Scientist: Peter Brewer
Lead Engineer: Bill Kirkwood
Work will continue in 2008 to capitalize on deep sea chemistry enabled with the in situ laser Raman system. Comparative research on deep-sea hydrates will be accomplished in the Gulf of California, as well as experimental work in Monterey Bay to simulate the formation of hydrates such as those occurring naturally at Barkley Canyon. Interns, graduate students, and post docs will be conducting complementary laboratory experiments.
