Benthic research
Benthic Biology & Ecology
Project Manager and Lead Scientist: Jim Barry
Jim Barry’s research in 2008 will focus on deployments of the benthic respirometer to gauge the impact of elevated carbon dioxide on benthic organisms. Laboratory-based studies of tolerance to high-carbon dioxide, low-oxygen, or both, will complement the field programs. His group will also continue analysis of time series observations of the effect of submarine canyons on the carbon transport to benthic communities.
