Autonomous Ocean Sampling Networks (AOSN)
Project Manager and Lead Engineer: Jim Bellingham
Bellingham ’s Autonomous Ocean Sampling Networks program is highly leveraged with funding from the Office of Naval Research. In 2007, the project will continue to develop ocean observatory workbench software that allows distributed teams to collaborate in experiment design, execution, decision making, and data sharing. The very successful COOP software for the MB ’06 (Monterey Bay 2006) experiment will be made Open Source. The project will also be working on internal wave adaptive sampling missions with a Dorado AUV. Results from early tests demonstrated the ability to follow thermoclines and map internal waves with very high resolution using only on-board sensors.
