Midwater Respirometry System (MRS)
Project Managers: Kim Reisenbichler
Lead Scientist: Kim Reisenbichler, Bruce Robison
Lead Engineer: Craig Okuda
This project made excellent progress in quantifying the metabolic rate of gelatinous animals in the midwater by leveraging off existing technology developed for the benthic respirometry system. Three animals were tested successfully in situ. More field programs are planned in 2007, with possible modifications to the chambers to allow for controlled experimentation (e.g., pH alteration).
