Application of novel sensor technology to studies of the marine nitrogen cycle

Project Manager and Lead Scientist: Ken Johnson

The goal of this project is to monitor nitrogen cycling by porting existing nitrogen sensors to Argo floats, the eddy flux platform, and the Land Ocean Biogeochemical Observatory (LOBO) array of moorings in Elkhorn Slough. Budget constraints only allow a proof of concept at this point in time, but if these platforms/measurements are successful, this could prove to be a very cost effective way to meet the goals of the Carbon Nitrogen and Redox (CNR) initiative.
