Project Manager: Bill Ussler
Lead Scientist: Charlie Paull
Paull will be involved in a number of high-profile field programs in 2007. In collaboration with the U.S. Geologic Survey, he will take the research vessel Zephyr and the autonomous underwater mapping vehicle D. Allan B. south to the California Borderlands for a joint mapping and coring program of offshore faults near Los Angeles and San Diego. They will be identifying the recurrence interval for earthquakes and their tsunami potential. Paull’s team will also continue the multiyear Monterey Ocean Observing System (MOOS) Shepard Meander experiment designed to prove out the basic elements of MOOS technology. He will also continue repeat mapping and event response in Monterey Canyon.
