Project Manager: Alicé Davis
Lead Scientist: Dave Clague
Dave Clague’s major field program for 2007 will use the MBARI autonomous underwater mapping vehicle D. Allan B. at Loihi Seamount in the Hawaiian Islands. This will be the first use of MBARI’s new ship-of-opportunity launch-and-recovery system that is included in the capital budget for 2007. Clague’s mapping program will be joining a National Science Foundation-funded expedition for Craig Moyer and Margo Edwards on the Hawaii research ship Kilo Moana. The scheduling of a second field program to the California Borderlands is awaiting a National Undersea Research Program decision on whether they will be sending one of their investigators to the same area in order to save on transit costs.
