Ocean chemistry of greenhouse gases III

Project Manager: Ed Peltzer
Lead Scientist: Peter Brewer

The focus in 2007 will be to capitalize on the phenomenal 2006 Barkley Canyon expedition that accomplished not only direct spectroscopy in the deep sea, but also field-tested the controversial methane-carbon dioxide hydrate inter-conversion process. Limited field work is planned in local waters on complex hydrate structures again using the MBARI laser raman system (known as DORISS, for Deep Ocean Raman In Situ Spectrometer). Team building with international collaborators continues.
