In this technology demonstration of the capabilities of the full MOOS system, two seafloor benthic instrument nodes powered from and communicating to a surface mooring in real time will be deployed in the Shepard Meander of Monterey Canyon in the Spring of 2006. Using vertical profilers and sediment traps, the experiment will compare carbon transport within the canyon to transport outside the canyon.
