The MBARI Video Annotation and Reference System database is a treasure chest of information. Due to alack of software tools to enable data mining, it is not being systematically examined and analyzed in its entirety. The goals of this project are to develop visualization and statistical tools, binning algorithms, and connections to additional data sources (navigation, bathymetry, etc.) that would facilitate expanded use of the VARS data.
