Long-term broadband seismic observatory in Monterey Bay

MBARI will continue to service the broadband seismometer (MOBB) currently deployed on Smooth Ridge. MOBB engineering data will continue to be analyzed by engineers at MBARI to support observatory and network development.
Looking to the future, researchers will evaluate various available technologies for the MARS Science Instrument Interface Module (SIIM) extension cable and for a data logger modification needed to connect to the network. Connecting the MOBB to the MARS network will alleviate the need for ROV visits every four months to download data and replace batteries.
