Molecular Ecology of Marine and Aquatic Organisms

Project Manager: Joe Jones
Lead Scientist: Bob Vrijenhoek
Lead Engineer: Gene Massion

In 2005 studies will continue on evolutionary and ecological connections between vent and seep communities from the western coastal margin of North America. These regional studies will be integrated with global-scale biogeographical studies (an NSF project). We will also continue collaboration with the Scholin group in development of the ESP (Environmental Sample Processor) for detection of larval marine invertebrates.

MBARI postdoctoral fellow, Caren Braby, will explore DNA microarray-based technologies for ESP detection of larval invertebrates.
