ROV and ship navigation have been designated as core data streams.
The 2004 project will address failures in ROV navigation data logging and validation that have occurred or been discovered over the past two years. The team will include lead ROV pilots and representatives from Engineering, Support Engineering, Information Applications, and Science. The USBL navigation hardware on both the R/V Point Lobos and the R/V Western Flyer will be upgraded. The intent is to bring all elements of the ROV navigation systems up to current technology and to ensure that all hardware and software are properly configured and calibrated.
