Development of an ROV deployable acoustic gas sensor
Project Manager: Ed Peltzer
Lead Scientists: Peter Brewer
This project was originally approved as part of the Ocean Chemistry of
Greenhouse Gases (Phase II) renewal last year. Because of unforeseen
delays in the assembly of a prototype instrument at Schlumberger, MBARI’s
role in the project has been delayed until 2003. The acoustic gas sensor
was spun off
as a separate project beginning in 2003. This project will make innovative use of
MBARI's unique deep-sea vehicles to aid in the development of new instruments, systems and
methods to address fundamental issues in ocean chemistry. MBARI will continue
partnership with colleagues at
Schlumberger-Doll Research to develop, adapt to an ROV, and test a novel
in situ acoustic gas sensor for use in the deep-sea. |
