The Environmental Sample Processor (ESP): A device for
detecting microorganisms in situ using molecular probe technology
Project Managers/Lead Engineers: Scott Jensen/Gene Massion
Lead Scientist: Chris Scholin
An external proposal
submitted to NOPP to develop a second generation ESP (2G
ESP) will be supported over three years.
During 2003, the 2G ESP design will be refined, and the
system will be assembled. The
goal of the design effort is to produce a robust instrument, mature
enough to support MBARI science missions ( and those of external collaborators) without the
necessity of support from the science/engineering development team. This
is a necessary step in transferring ESP technology to users beyond those
at MBARI.
