Instrumentation and sensor development |
Ridge observatory development
Project Manager/Lead Engineer: Paul McGill
Lead Scientist: Debra Stakes
The goal of this continuing project is to develop the hardware and
software necessary to support an integrated suite of instruments to
measure ground motion, fluid flow, and fluid chemistry on an active
mid-ocean ridge. The instrumentation will be deployed on the Endeavour
Segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge in 2003.
In 2003 the project focuses on three goals:
- Develop the procedures
for moving the existing short-period seismic database to University of
California, Berkeley to
become part of the Northern California Seismic Network.
- Make
minor improvements to the data logger clock.
- Continue with test deployments in Monterey Bay to validate new hardware and to
refine deployment procedures.
