Continental margin processes

This proposal is to support the core activities of a group of MBARI scientists to study the processes associated with continental margin development. This effort is divided into five objectives. Our major focus will be conducting the cruises that are (1) part of MBARI’s Gulf of California expedition and (2) an NSF-supported cruise in the Canadian Arctic. However, we will also continue to work on (3) the analysis of samples collected on previous cruises to other gas-rich sites on the seafloor and (4) the data collected from the TPC tool during its deployments on the last ODP legs. (5) We will conduct one Tiburon dive in Pioneer Canyon to understand the structure of the regional basement .
