Molecular and microbiology data management
Lead Scientist: Chris Scholin and Ed DeLong
Lead Engineer/Project Manager: Rich Schramm
One of the primary goals of the molecular and microbiology research
group has been to develop and determine the effectiveness of new methods
for the detection and quantification of toxic and non-toxic phytoplankton
and bacterioplankton species. In this project we have planned to
accelerate the development of the data management tools needed to more
efficiently process, track and ultimately interpret their sample results.
Our goal is to improve the efficiency of the routine sample analysis
operations being performed and to greatly improve the access to the
various data elements associated with each sample through a combination of
custom programs and real-time extensions to a commercial geographic
information systems software
package.
