1999 Projects: ROV improvements

Integrated Viewing System upgrade for the ROV Tiburon

During its first year of operation (1998), the integrated viewing system for Tiburon (IView) fulfilled its design objective of providing the ROV with the capability of coordinated and independent dual-camera viewing with illumination that tracks the cameras' positions. The success of the system  has prompted users to request several modifications to enhance its capabilities and improve its reliability. These enhancements include the addition of features such as system self-testing, auto-alignment, auto-calibration, and stall-detection, and a graphic user interface to support the modifications.
