Data handling for Eye-in-the-Sea camera system

Edie Widder, MBARI adjunct and recently-named MacArthur Fellow, will be applying MBARI technologies for use with her Eye-in-the-Sea (EITS) camera system that will be connected to MARS with National Science Foundation funding. AVED (Automated Visual Event Detection) will be used to isolate relevant data from the continuous video stream. Video Annotation and Reference System (VARS) will provide the basis for a data management system. George Matsumoto will work with Widder on an EARTH educational unit based on EITS data.
