Upper ocean biogeochemistry |
Observing complexity in the coastal ocean
Project Manager/Lead Scientist: John Ryan
Lead Engineer: Hans Thomas
John Ryan’s attention will shift from studies of biological layering
in Monterey Bay to the effect of topography on productivity and marine
ecology. Funding from NASA will add airborne hyperspectral imaging data to
the in situ marine data Ryan will collect using MBARI ships and
AUVs. Ryan is also serving ably as the MOOS project scientist, using his
broad overview of marine biological system dynamics to define key
experiments using MOOS technology.
