Collect data about Ghost Shrimp, use the data to generate graphs and draw conclusions. Students explain how the shrimp demonstrate the characteristics of life.

This suite of activities explores the mystery of ghost shrimp in the Yaquina Mud Flats based on the research of Dr. Sarah Henkel. There are three hands-on, student-centered activities: mudflats in the classroom, intro to graphing, & characteristics of life. Students will be immersed in science as they develop skills in gathering data (in the field or in the classroom), interpreting graphs, making predictions from graphs, performing gel electrophoresis, and more!
