Cool seasons in Northern and Central California frequently bring an increased threat of high-impact weather—from widespread flooding, landslides and destructive windstorms to high surf, coastal flooding/erosion, and occasionally severe thunderstorm events. How will the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) shape these hazards this winter?

This seminar provides a look inside NOAA’s National Weather Service Office in Monterey, which delivers 24/7/365 impact-based decision support and life-saving forecasts across 11 Bay Area and Central Coast counties. Attendees will gain a brief overview of local NWS operations and a deeper look at how ENSO teleconnections potentially influence regional cool-season hazards.
