Charles Nye is a member of the Biological Oceanography Group (BOG). As a research assistant, he is working closely with Francisco Chavez and his fellow BOG members on various projects, including the Marine Biodiversity Observation Network (MBON). During his undergraduate years at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), Charles worked in the Molecular Ecology Lab to study population structure in intertidal fauna. He presented his research at the 2018 Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science Diversity in STEM Conference.
Charles has a bachelor’s degree from CSUMB in marine science with a statistics minor. His future research goals aim to utilize eDNA in delineating marine phylogeography.
