Joint-internship BBQ
There’s only one way to make sure no intern misses an event: free food.
The interns from Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University, MBARI, the Center for Ocean Solutions, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the Research Experience for Undergraduates at the California State University, Monterey Bay, all convened one Thursday night to crack open a cold soda and to eat a barbecue dinner together.

The barbecue took place overlooking the shores of Monterey at the Hopkins Marine Station. Turns out the MBARI interns aren’t the only ones whose offices are right on the beach! Image courtesy Ashaar Sanchez.
The interns mingled while they munched on hot dogs and hamburgers and explored the beach shore. Although the interns tried their darnedest to eat everything in sight, the best kind of intern barbecue ends with plenty of leftovers for lucky interns to take home with them.
