Egregia menziesii
Family Alariaceae (Setchell 1925)
The sporophytes of the Alariaceae have either branched or unbranched stipes. They consist when mature of a holdfast, stipe, terminal laminae, and lateral outgrowths. The stipe is distinct, at least in the young plant. The terminal laminae may or may not contain a central thickened area, and are either plane or rugose. Blades are laterally oriented, and produced by a meristematic region borne either on the terminal blade or along the stipe. Sporangia are found in sori, and are restricted to sporophylls.
