My research interests include the design and implementation of autonomous instrumentation and new methodologies used to study the biogeochemistry of seawater, particularly carbon dioxide equilibria. My background is in analytical chemical methods applied to measurement of the pH, total alkalinity and pCO2 of natural waters. I co-developed the first “tracer monitored titration” in Mike DeGrandpre’s laboratory at the University of Montana and in collaboration with Andrew Dickson at SIO. As a member of the MBARI Chemical Sensor Program, I am currently working on new and existing methods for measurement of carbonate ion and total dissolved inorganic carbon in seawater.
