My objective at MBARI is to advance the state of the art of ocean instrumentation, particularly regarding underwater control systems. I'm currently working on the control system for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), called Dorado.
I come to MBARI from an aerospace background, where my most recent project was attitude control of the MSTI spacecraft. I now find myself fascinated by the many opportunities to improve underwater instrumentation through application of modern control design techniques.
