I have overall responsibility for analysis, design, construction, test, and performance of electronic hardware in support of MBARI's oceanographic research goals. Most activity in the Group for the past year has been focused on the electrical systems for ROV Tiburon. Please link to individual engineers' pages (below) for a look at their activities at MBARI.

My most recent design project was the 15 kW (20 hp) power system for Tiburon. This included the shipboard 400 Hz system, 1600 VAC cable transmission system, acoustically quiet vehicle transformer, and onboard 240 V and 48 V DC power distribution system with ground fault isolation. Other contributions on Tiburon included the electrical outline of the Data Concentrator distributed control system, and design of the emergency recovery system.
