Typical crustose coralline. Melobesia mediocris on Phyllospadix. The dark spots are the conceptacles.

Decalcified and removed from its epiphyte. Black line points to the pore of the conceptacle. (uniporate must be a gametophyte)

Shows the cell structure of Melobesia mediocris.

White parts are bleached places in the coralline where it has lost its photosynthetic pigments.
