Introduction
The genus Plocamium has been called a cosmopolitan of the temperate seas and is characterized by fine, delicate branching that makes for exceptionally beautiful herbarium specimens. There are representatives of the genus Plocamium in all the world's temperate oceans, including South Africa, the Subantarctic, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and California.
