Habitat: A Home for Codium

Codium fragile is found in the intertidal zone from Alaska to Baja California. It is widely distributed, especially in the lower intertidal. It lives on the tops and sides of rocks and seems to prefer east-facing rocks.

This species is a perennial, growing continuously from year to year. It has little ability to utilize transiently high levels of nutrients but rather has a low uniform growth rate under a variety of conditions.
