  • Pigments - chlorophyll a, chlorophyll c, carotenoid pigments (beta carotene), fucoxanthin
  • Cell Wall - a distinguishing characteristic due to its largely silicate composition
  • Storage Products - chrysolaminarin (beta-1,3 linked glucan), oil drops (globular form of starch and sugar), volutin, polyphosphate in vacuoles, lipids within and outside of vacuoles, fatty acids
