PHYCOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA

Phaeophyta

The brown algae, in the division Phaeophyta, have the pigments fucoxanthin, chlorophyll a and c, and carotenes. They use laminarin as a storage product and contain the gels algin and fucoidan.
