Silvetia compressa (J. Agardh) Serrão, Cho, Boo et Brawley

(which used to be called Pelvetia)

The oogonia in conceptacles appear as two hemispheres in the one packet. (See Conceptacle Formation for discussion on oogonia formation.)

When dividing, the oogonial packet elongates and begins to pinch.

Soon a deeper furrow forms.
