Special Seminar Presented By
Exploring the World's Ocean Basins
in Manned Submersibles
Thursday — October 13, 2011
Pacific Forum — 3:00 p.m.
OceanGate is a Seattle-based organization focused on supporting ocean exploration and marine research with manned submersibles. Our flagship is Antipodes, which is capable of carrying five people to 285 meters (936 feet) and operates under an A+1 classification from the American Bureau of Shipping and a U.S. Coast Guard letter of designation as an oceanographic research vessel. Her twin 58" hemispherical acrylic domes afford amazing viewing and filming capabilities. This workshop will provide an overview of manned submersibles, a technical update of our engineering efforts to incorporate advanced 3D sonar mapping capabilities to Antipodes, and a preview of our 2012 expedition plans to help NOAA and the U.S. Coast Guard assess several "potentially polluting wrecks" across the U.S.
