The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History (NMNH)
and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have formed a
unique partnership designed to promote ocean literacy via the Internet: the
Ocean Portal. The Ocean Portal will provide millions of visitors with a
place to go online, any time, for trusted information and engaging
experiences that link people to the marine environment and build national
support for the health of our oceans. By taking advantage of the strengths
of the Internet and the wide array of high quality, science based online
assets that currently exist, the portal can educate, engage and inspire
visitors to discuss and act in informed ways. Please join us to learn more
about the initiative and discuss how collaboration can further our goals.
