Monterey Bay Aquarium's E-Quarium 2.0 overview

The Monterey Bay Aquarium's E-Quarium web site has been online for 2 ½ years. In that time, it's been recognized by the web press as one of the 3 best science museum sites on the Web and one of the 50 best science and technology sites. The site attracted nearly 750,000 visitors last year. But we recognized even before the site launched that the site was a small initial learning effort. For the past year, the aquarium has been working with Alben+Faris, a Santa Cruz-based interaction design firm to develop a strategy and concept plan for a greatly expanded version 2.0 of the site.

We will present the results of this work and take people through a prototype that was created to show some of the key concepts for the new site, which will launch October 15, 1999.
