mbarilogo-120_sh.gif (3184 bytes) Hints for downloading query returns
for use with spreadsheets or GIS
[../../queries/t-o-c-q.htm] For saving the query returns as a file:
  1. Click the "comma-delimited version" option, which is found above each query return table. This returns a comma-delimited list of your query results.
  2. Save the file as a text file:
          Select File --> Save As
          Change File type to "Plain text (.txt)"
  3. Import the file into your favorite spreadsheet or GIS package.

For importing the file into an Excel spreadsheet:

  1. Start the Excel program.
  2. On a new, blank worksheet, select File --> Open. Navigate to your .txt file and select it.
  3. A wizard will pop up with a series of steps:
    Choose "Delimited", then "Comma", then "General", then "Finish"

For importing the file into ArcView GIS:

  1. Create a project in ArcView with the bathymetry data for the area.
  2. Make the project window active.
  3. Choose "Add Table" from the Project menu.
  4. In the dialog that appears, choose "Delimited Text (.txt)" from the List Files of Type dropdown list. Navigate to your .txt file and select it.
  5. The name of the file will be added in the Tables list in the Project window. The file itself is not copied into the project, but instead, ArcView maintains a link to the data file. Changes you make to the file will be automatically reflected in your project; be aware that it will lose track of the file if you move it.
