MBARI is providing the leadership for a project jointly supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The project is developing metadata standards to control the vocabulary used to describe data sets. The project links well to a number of other efforts at MBARI that seek to automate data discovery and exploration.
