New deep sea creatures stamps featured by U.S. Postal Service 

The new Deep Sea Creatures commemorative stamps are the focus of the U.S. Postal Service's National Stamp Collecting Month this October, bringing public awareness to the wonders of the deep-sea environment.

The new stamps were unveiled earlier this month in a public ceremony at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The event featured a special first-day-of-issue cancellation that was unveiled 450 meters underwater by a robot arm on Ventana, the remotely operated vehicle tethered to MBARI's research vessel Point Lobos.
