Welcome to the joint library of the Monterey Bay Aquarium
Research Institute (MBARI) and Moss Landing Marine Labs (MLML). The MBARI/MLML Library's collections and
services provide support for the staff and students of both institutions.
The MBARI Library was founded in 1996 as a private, non-profit library, and in 1999 merged with the MLML Library. This private-public partnership provides opportunities for collaboration and information synergy in the study of marine science and engineering.
The library also supports a private Engineering Reference Center at the MBARI campus with collections in scientific instrumentation, and mechanical, electrical and software engineering.
Public access is available by appointment only at the MLML campus.
Combined holdings are concentrated in fisheries, marine birds & mammals, invertebrate zoology,
oceanography, ecology, molecular biology, biogeochemistry, toxicology,
marine geology, marine chemistry, and deep-sea biology.
The combined collection includes 15,000 monographs, 120 print journals, and 200 electronic journals. We are a member of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Library and Information Centers, IAMSLIC.
Directions to the Library can be found at the MLML home page.
