Amphipoda
Family Lyssianasidae

Amphipods are a type of crustacean that can be very abundant in places where there is food on the sea floor. They live on or near the bottom most of the time; this particular type can swim around. They are very small - less than half the size of a pencil eraser! When we observe the seafloor, sometimes we see what looks like small white dots swimming around in the water. These "dots" are usually amphipods.
