Cruise Description
Purpose
The purpose of this cruise is to investigate the release of methane hydrates from the sediments around the region known as "hydrate ridge". Scientists will be looking into the idea that gaseous carbon dioxide and methane could be disposed of in the deep ocean, where the intense pressure and low temperatures would form hydrate, which could affect dissolution rates and the time that Carbon would be sequestered in the ocean.
